LGA - La Guardia

La Guardia is an airport on the east side of New York, operating as a hub for Delta Air Lines and American Airlines. It has some limits in place meaning it mostly does routes under 1500 miles/2400 km. It saw 14 million passengers in 2022 and its website is www.laguardiaairport.com/

Parking

There are a few options at the airport. Terminal A - $5 for thirty minutes, $39 for 24 hours, closest to Terminal A

Terminal B - $5 for thirty minutes, $42 for 24 hours, closest to Terminal B, access through both Arrivals or Departures levels

Terminal C - $6 for thirty minutes, $52 for 24 hours, closest to Terminal C, access via level 3

Prepaid Economy - pre-booked only, $35 for 24 hours

Discount Parking - pre-booked only, $18 for 24 hours


A shuttle bus operates for all areas, 24 hours per day, every ten minutes peak, every fifteen minutes off-peak. See the Maps section for the route.

Drop Off

There is a free-to-use Cell Phone Lot Waiting Area on 94th Street between 23rd Avenue and Ditmars Boulevard, open from 0700-0000. Vehicles must be attended at all times.


As noted in Parking, the main Terminal car parks are all $5 for up to thirty minutes.

There is The Centurion Lounge at Terminal B (level 4) and Delta Sky Club at Terminal C. No further details are known.

Shuttles

A shuttle bus operates for all areas, 24 hours per day, every ten minutes peak, every fifteen minutes off-peak. This connects the parking areas and car hire area to the terminals.


Most of the local hotels have shuttles although some incur a fee.

Taxis

The airport highlights issues with unlicensed taxis and their own uniformed staff can assist. Taxis are available at all terminals and are well-signposted. Alternatively, the Airport Customer Experience Specialists can offer assistance.


Typical fares include EWR Newark $111, JFK $41, Queens Kew Gardens $26, Bronx Co-Op City $42, Manhattan $30-44. There are some surcharges in place and these vary according to destination, route and time.


Buses and Coaches

Five different routes come into the airport, operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.


M60 - Select Bus Service with fewer stops

Q70 - Select Bus Service with fewer stops, free, Terminals B and C only

Q47 - for Queens

Q48 - for Queens

Q72 - for Queens, Terminals B and C only


The airport stops are as follows.


Terminal A - to the right after exiting, past the Departures Hall and across the street

Terminal B - level 1 (one floor below check-in and baggage claim)

Terminal C - level 1 (one floor below check-in and baggage claim)


Bus payment is by contactless card or a refillable Metrocard. For the M60 route you need to insert it in the curbside machines to obtain a paper ticket. A one-way ticket is $2.90 and allows for one transfer. Q70 is free and no ticket is required. All the buses connect with subway/rail stations.

Rail services can be reached via the buses already mentioned. The bus routes connect as follows.


M60 - Subway N & W at Astoria Boulevard, Subway 4, 5 & 6 at 125 St (Lexington Avenue), Subway A, B, C & D at 125 St (St. Nicholas Avenue), Subway 1 at 116 St-Columbia University and Cathedral Parkway, Metro North Railway at Harlem, Hudson and Harlem-125 St

Q70 - Subway E, F, M, R, & 7 at Jackson Heights-Roosevelt/74 St-Broadway, Subway 7 at 61 St-Woodside, Long Island Rail Road at Woodside

Q47 - Subway E, F, M, R & 7 at Jackson Heights-Roosevelt/74 St-Broadway

Q48 - Subway 7 at 111 St, Mets-Willets Point and Flushing Main St, Long Island Rail Road at Mets-Willets Point and Flushing Main

Q72 - Subway 7 at Junction Boulevard, Subway M & R at 63 Dr-Rego Park

An on-site bus connects all terminals, running 24 hours a day and every ten minutes peak, every fifteen minutes off-peak.


Car Hire

Free shuttles can be used to reach the car hire areas, with pick-up at or near the front of each terminal. For Terminal A check the map here www.laguardiaairport.com/to-from-airport/car-rental, for Terminal B pick-up is HOV Ground Level between columns 5-7, and for Terminal C pick-up is at the Transit Centre.

Companies available are Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt, and Thrifty.
