Johannesburg, known as OR Tambo, serves the largest city in the country and the neighbouring Pretoria. It saw 15 million passengers in 2022 and its website is www.airports.co.za/airports/or-tambo-international-airport

Parking 

There are a number of parking options, all fairly close to the terminal.


P1 Parkade 1 Basement Short Stay - R40 for up to an hour, R230 for 24 hours

P2 Parkade 2 South level 3/4 drop off - free for up to thirty minutes, R30 for up to an hour, R220 for 24 hours

P2 Parkade 2 south level 2 pick up - free for up to twenty minutes, R30 for up to forty minutes

P3 multi-storey Parkade 2 level 2 long stay - R540 for three days, R288 for four days, R360 for five days

P3 multi-storey Parkade 2 short stay - free for up to thirty minutes, R220 for 24 hours

P1 multi-storey Parkade 1 short stay - R20 for up to an hour, R180 for 24 hours

It is recommended that P2 Parkade 2 south level 2 is NOT used for overnight parking.


There are also Premium options available at R350 for 24 hours.


Drop Off 

Drop off and pick up is available.


Drop off - P2 Parkade 2 South level 3/4 drop off, free for up to thirty minutes and R30 for up to an hour.

Pick up - P2 Parkade 2 south level 2 pick up, free for up to twenty minutes and R30 for up to forty minutes.

Shops 

There are a range of shops across the terminals.

There are a handful of lounges open to all.

Assistance 

It is recommended that you make contact with your airline or tour operator 48 hours before travel. There are no details on the airport website.

There are a few hotels close to the airport.


Garden Court, short walk to Rhodesfield station

Southern Sun, free shuttle (four per hour)

InterContinental, short walk to the temrinal

Premier Airport, free shuttle takes five minutes

Protea Airport, free shuttle takes ten minutes

Shuttles 

The airports offer shuttles as indicated. These can be found outside Terminal B (Arrivals level 0, Departures level 1).

Reclaim

In the reclaim area check the boards for which carousel you need to attend.


Customs

Taxis 

Accredited taxis are allowed at the airport and there is an information desk in the terminal. Taxis can be found outside Terminal B (Arrivals level 0, Departures level 1).


Buses and Coaches 

No details noted.


Rail and Trams 

There is a station in between Terminal A and the Central Terminal.


Gautrain - 0515-2200, every twelve minutes, use a Gautrain Card or contactless, R58. The yellow line calls at Rhodesfield, Marlboro and Sandton. All three are also on the blue line and the latter two are on the red line for connections to Pretoria.


Routes 

There is no specific destination information. Johannesberg operates as a destination for numerous long-haul locations as well as various other African nations, and with the country itself.

It is a short walk between the domestic and international areas for any connecting flights.
