DFW - Dallas Fort Worth

This is the largest hub for American Airlines and is in the north of Texas, giving it a fairly central position in the United States. This airport saw 82 million passengers in 2023 and its website is www.dfwairport.com/

Parking 

There are a number of car park areas, mostly based on the terminals.


Terminal - close to each of the five terminals, can be pre-booked, guidance system in garages A, D and E, $32 for 24 hours.

Express - near the north and south entry points of the airport, can be pre-booked, $18 for 24 hours uncovered, $21 for 24 hours covered, shuttle to the terminal.

Remote - just outside the north and south entry points, can be pre-booked, $14 for 24 hours, non-stop shuttle to the terminal.

Valet - pick up and drop off at the terminal (Arrivals level 3 for all except Terminal D, where it is Departures curbside, specific points are the one-hour zones of A15, A20, A29, B9, B30, C7, C21, E7, E28, and D18, D30), $45 for 24 hours.

Drop Off 

Drop-off is meant to be just that and takes place at the curbside on the upper level of each terminal.


Each parking area also has a short-stay option, and that should be used for pick-up.


Terminal - $9 for up to eight minutes, $2 for an additional twenty-two minutes

Express - $3 for up to two hours

Remote - $2 for up to two hours


There are two cell phone lots available. At the north end it is just before the north toll plaza, for the south it is next to the intersection of Rental Car Drive and Southgate Avenue. Vehicles cannot be left unattended and the maximum stay is two hours.


Security

The airport uses TSA PreCheck. There is also a free pre-booked Fast Pass at Terminal D Checkpoint D18.

There are a few lounges at the airport. Many of these are airline lounges as well as a USO lounge for service personnel, and the Centurion for various cardholders.

The airport has three on-site hotels (as well as Minute Suites in Terminals A and D).

Hyatt Place - South Gate Plaza close to the Rental Car Facility


There are then a range of hotels in Dallas and Fort Worth, and a large number of well-known names on the perimeter of the airport.

Shuttles

There are a number of hotel shuttles for those closer to the airport and these can be found on the lower level curbside at each terminal. There are also shuttles for the Express and Remote car parks.


There are two shuttle services within the airport.


Skylink - inside security, light rail, 24 hours, every two minutes with an average five minute journey and maximum nine minutes, free. Stops twice at each terminal near gates A17, A28, B9, B29, C14, C26, D16, D28, E14, E32.

Terminal Link - outside security, bus, 0500-0000, every ten minutes, distinct orange vans, free. Stops at each terminal on the upper level (Terminals A, B, C and E) and lower level (Terminal D). Stops twice at each terminal at A10, A29, B17, B46, C4, C35, D17, D25, E10, E35. Contact can be made for out-of-hours.

Taxi

Taxis can be found on the lower levels of all five terminals. There is a DFW Airport Assistant at the ranks from 0800-0000. There are a range of companies allowed to attend the airport.


Shared rides are in the same area and the provider is Yellow Checker. App based companies (Uber, Lyft, Wingz and Alto) use the upper level curbside at each terminal.


Buses and Coaches

None noted.


Rail and Trams 

There are three different services at the airport.


DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) - station close to departures A10, first departure 0414, first arrival 0350, $2 midday pass, $6 day pass, tickets from airport kiosk or GoPass app only, heads to Dallas.

TEX Rail - station at Terminal B departures close to B30, 0440-0210, $2.50 single, $5 day pass, tickets from airport kiosk or GoPass app only, heads to Fort Worth.

TRE (Trinity Tailway Express) - requires shuttle bus from Terminal B gate 47, shuttle runs 0530-2300 Mon to Sat, once or twice an hour. Train runs from 0500-2300 Mon to Sat, $2.50 single. Tickets from CentrePorte Station kiosks or GoPass app. Connects to Dallas and Fort Worth.

Terminal Transfer 

There are two shuttle services within the airport.

Car Hire 

The car hire area is close to the south entrance of the airport. There is a Rental Car Shuttle from there to and from the terminals. These run 24 hours and depart every ten to fifteen minutes. They pick up and drop off on the lower level at each terminal.
