Birmingham is set in the middle of England and serves the country's second biggest city. Its single terminal (there used to be two) had 10 million passengers in 2023. Its website can be found at www.birminghamairport.co.uk

Parking

Birmingham has a variety of parking options - valet parking (one minute walk to the terminal), car park 1 (one minute walk to the terminal, undercover multi-storey), car parks 2 and 3 (one minute walk to the terminal, multi-storey), car park 4 (three to five minutes walk to the terminal, surface), car park 5 (five to ten minutes walk to the terminal free shuttle bus taking three minutes, four per hour, free shuttle bus taking three to five minutes, four per hour, surface), car park 7 (free five to ten minute shuttle bus, four per hour, off-site surface).

Drop Off

At Birmingham there are two options.

Premium Set Down is one minute from the terminal and costs £5 for up to fifteen minutes, then £5 per extra five minutes.

Drop Off is a five to ten-minute walk to the terminal and is free for ten minutes.  It is located about halfway between car park 4 and car park 5.

Shuttles Shuttles are limited to those mentioned in the hotel section.  There is also a monorail between the terminal and the rail station.

Immigration

For all international travellers you should check entry requirements on the official government site.  In this case it is www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration and you will find details on the ETA scheme there too.


There is a fast track option at £7 (rising to £20 in July 2024).

Reclaim

Just follow the signs after immigration and you will come to the baggage reclaim area.  There are boards that you should check for your flight number, and that will indicate which carousel you need to attend.  There are trolleys available in the area.


Customs

There are two channels - green (nothing to declare) and red (items to declare).

Taxis

Black Cabs are available at the terminal.

Buses and Coaches

Three bus routes head in and out of the airport via Birmingham International station.  Two are by National Express and one by Diamond.  The stand at the terminal is shown below.

X1 - Birmingham city centre and Coventry - stand K

X12 - Birmingham city centre and Solihull - stand L

96 - Kingstanding and Chelmsley Wood - stand L

In addition there is a direct Aircoach from Birmingham city centre.  It leaves St. Margaret's bus station and uses terminal stand J.  £9.

Rail and Trams

The Birmingham International station is easily reached using a free monorail service.  It operates from 0330 to 0030.

There are about three trains per hour to London Euston, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Rugby, and more frequent services to Birmingham New Street. For any rail bookings, we recommend Trainline. Just click the logo below.

Terminal Transfers

Not applicable. The former second terminal is now absorbed into the main terminal.
