AMS - Amsterdam Schiphol

This huge hub for passneger and cargo flights is built as one giant terminal with separate departure halls. It saw 62 million passengers in 2023 and its website is www.schiphol.nl/en/

Parking

There are various parking options - P1 (mostly covered for short or long stay, two to six minutes walk to the terminal), P3 Long Term Sheltered (five minutes by shuttle to the terminal), P3 Long Term Unsheltered (five minutes by shuttle to the terminal), P6 Valet Sheltered (two minutes walk to the terminal), P6 Valet Unsheltered (two minutes walk to the terminal). Schiphol also has a frequent travellers scheme called Privium Plus.

Drop Off

There is a Kiss and Ride spot in front of departures but is designed for the briefest of stops. If you need a little longer, within P1 you will find a designated area, €2.30 per twenty minutes, two to six minutes walk to the terminal.

You can pre-book a timed slot for free, or access fast track with a Privium membership. Although part of the check-in process, please note that there are various airlines that allow you to self-check hold baggage.

Assistance

The airport recommends that you make contact with your airline or tour operator 48 hours before departure although you can ask at check-in if you have been unable to do so, but may have to wait. Shuttles

Previously hotels offered their own shuttles, many free and some for a paid fare. An agreement is now in place for twenty-eight hotels to share a shuttle service and we will update this section once it is fully announced. The P3 car park shuttle leaves from the Plaza outside Arrivals.

Taxi

Taxis drop-off and pick-up directly outside the terminal. Travellers are urged not to engage with taxi touts.

Buses and Coaches

Bus stops can be found outside the Plaza.

Amsterdam Express 397 (and Niteliner N97) - heads to all train stations in Amsterdam

Services to other towns and cities also leave from this area.

An Amsterdam Travel Ticket is available for €18 for one day, €24 for two days, and €30 for three days.

For all travel on buses you need to check in and check out for each journey.

Rail and Trams

The Schiphol train station is directly under the airport. Central station can be reached in about 15 minutes.

A number of routes leave from the airport directly and many more can be found at Amsterdam Central. Tram stops are also found outside Central station.

Terminal Transfer

There are monitors around the airport where you can check for your next flight's details and then check in at one of the transfer desks.

There is an online tool where you can enter your flight details to obtain further information https://www.schiphol.nl/en/transfers/ It is recommended that you need forty minutes for a Schengen area transfer and fifty minutes for a non-Schengen transfer.
