The gateway to the Costa del Sol, this airport is five miles southwest of Malaga and three miles north of Torremolinos. It saw 22 million passengers in 2023 and its website is https://www.aena.es/es/malaga-costa-del-sol.html

Parking

There are various options at the airport. General - aimed at stays under four days and drop-off, close to departures

Long stay - aimed at holiday stays, free shuttle bus to the terminal (0700-0000 every fifteen minutes, 0000-0700 on demand)

Arrivals - free for up to ten minutes, aimed at drop-off and pick-up

Express - free for up to ten minutes, aimed at drop-off and pick-up

VIP - valet service, hand over the car at departures, pick up at arrivals



Drop Off

For drop-off you should utilise the Arrivals or Express car parks already detailed. Rates are not known but are charged per minute beyond any free times shown.

Lounges

There is one lounge at the airport.


Costa del Sol VIP - Boarding area level 2, 0500-2300, €40.85


There is also a "light" lounge called Relax & Go that is at gates C30/31 and costs €15 for ninety minutes.


Assistance

Hotels


Holiday Inn Express Malaga Airport is the closest to the airport but most in the area are further afield, given the proximity of the two large resort towns. For hotels near the airport click the image below.

Immigration

Two companies operate at the airport - Taxi Union Company and Unitaxi Company.


The main rank is at Arrivals and there is a €5.50 Airport supplement.


Buses and Coaches

You will find City buses, Intercity buses and Long-distance coaches.


City bus - Airport to Malaga - stops at Floor 0 Arrivals, €4 single, tickets by cash or card on board

Intercity bus - stops at Floor 0 Arrivals

  • M169 to Alhaurin de la Torre

  • Avanza to Marbella

  • Avanza to Estepona

  • Alsa to Nerja

  • M135 to Santa Amalia

Long-distance coaches - stops at Floor 0 Arrivals

  • Avanza to Algeciras and Linea de la Concepcion

  • Alsa to Motril, Seville, and Granada


Rail and Trams

There is a station at the airport where you will find line C1 that goes to various locations.

  • Fuengirola thirty-four minutes

  • Benalmadena eighteen minutes

  • Malaga centre twelve minutes

  • Malaga Maria Zambrano eight minutes (for connection with Renfe AVE high-speed trains)


The local trains operate in zones and fares range from €1.80 for one or two zones, up to €3.60 for five zones.
