Most people will know there is a rollout of new scanning machines at airports, that will mean we can take larger containers and leave them in our bag, when going through security.

There was a deadline set in the UK but larger airports have really struggled to meet it - firstly they have a lot more machines and passengers, and secondly the new machines are a lot heavier so have required building changes too. It has meant that a number of airports have managed to change whilst most haven't.
From midnight tonight there will be a very important change - ALL UK airports will resort to the "old" 100ml rule. So, nothing bigger than that, all in a sealed bag of a certain size, and all taken out of your hand luggage and placed in the tray. Since the rollout started our advice has been to stick to the old rule in any case - there's a good chance your returning airport hasn't changed, so you will have to comply for one leg. It's probably best to stick to that for now as no doubt this situation will continue to change. The specific airports changing back to the 100ml rule are Teesside, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, Aberdeen, Southend and London City. To make it even easier, why not place items in the hold, if you are taking a bag?
